If tracking never updates for weeks, I start to worry about the order. Over the last months I noticed that some of my favorite items are not the most expensive ones. Jewelry is another category where quality can be very different from photos. If they reply politely and give detailed answers, I feel more relaxed. Otherwise they become clutter in the closet after the trend is over. Forums, blogs and communities create a kind of collective memory for shoppers.

Sometimes I experiment with different materials just to see how they feel in daily life. Nobody wants pretty shoes that hurt after ten minutes of walking. I also pay attention to return policy and customer service response time. Otherwise they become clutter in the closet after the trend is over. If they ignore basic questions or reply with copy pasted text, I become suspicious. Metal can feel more premium, but acetate can be more comfortable for long wear. Reviews that mention long term use are more valuable than comments written on day one. If a website gives a detailed guide for measurements, I feel more confident when ordering.
